mob was dangerously wounded by the
Sheriff. Stevens was pardoned out of
the penitentiary last winter for n pre-
vious murder. Particulars of the affair
are to the effect that 110 masked men
went to the Jail at '1 o'clock this morn-
ing called up Sheriff Andemou and de-
manded that he deliver Stevens to them.
This he refused to do and told the
crowd he would fight to the Inst In de-
fense of his prisoners A committer of
three was then sent to consult with the
Sheriff but his reply was the same ns

Stole a Lamp.
A vagrant named Frank Duchesne tins
been nrrested by Olllcrr Abbey for
theft of a lamp valued at $." from the
Washington saloon. Duchesne stole the
lamp last Sunday morning. The lamps
were placed In a book room of the old
saloon for cleaning ever) 'day nnd Du-
chesne slipped buck took oil' his old
coat and wrnnncd one of the lamns In It

saloon on Nuevnstreet where Duchesne
