AS°E MONT. TEX
Snjeler, Texas, May 8.—The
Icng-looked-for railroad has at
last reached Snyder, and there is
much rejoicing by the people
here. The Roscoe, Snyder &
Pacific railroad has reached this
place and ^he company unloaded
the first car of freight yesterday
that was ever shipped into Sny-
der by railway, being consigned
to the Snyder Mercantile Co.
While the railway company
has not yet erected a depot, it
will do so at once. Passengers
have been transported to Snyder
for about a week, unloading at
end of track about one mile out
of town.
A call has been made for a
mass meeting of the citizens to
take steps to have a barbecue
and grand celebration on account
oT the arrival of the railroad into
this place. The celebration will
take place about June 4, and re-
duced rates will be given on the
Texas & Pacific railroad from
all points between Dallas and El
Paso, Texas, and the people here
are expecting a great crowd of
visitors, and will be ready to give
them a great welcome.
Notice
We desire to notif3r the public
that we do not believe R. D.
Senter committed suicide. We
examined him very carefully
and could detect no symptom of
any poison. It is being circulated
that he did suicide and we desire
to refute the charge as being ab-
solutely false and we can see no
motive for such a fabrication
unless it is to try and defeat Mrs.
Senter and children in their at-
tempt to secure the insurance
due them.

Strayed or Stolen.
From my place 12 miles north
of Aspermont, one red half
Jersey 2' year-old heifer with
white face and white under
belly and breast^ smooth red
rings around eyes, small space
below eyes that don't meet;
will find calf in near future if
not already; unbranded when
she left. Anyone knowing of
such an animal will be liberally
rewarded by reporting her
whereabouts to me.

Mr. A. Maxwell retires as
cashier of the First National
Bank of Tex ico this week, is
succeeded by William Harvey,
of Dallas. Mr. Harvey buys out
J. D. Hamlin, Mart Roberson,
W. H. Laswell and others. In
fact he and others have purchased
the interests of every stockholder
desiring to sell. We understand
that the bank with the new
accessions is very sti"ong and
having splendid outside connect-
ions and that the individual
wealth of the present stock-
holders runs up in the hundreds
of thousands.
Mr. Harvey is an experienced
banker and comes to us very
highly recommended.
We are glad to note that Mr.
Maxwell retains his stock and re-
mains a director of the bank.—

Died
Mrs. Julia Miller, wife of J. C-
Miller, died at her home near
Lingo Sunday evening at 2:10
o'clock from consumption, and
her remains were interred in
Double Mountain cemetery
Monday afternoon, Rev. P. Bum-
gardner conducting the funeral
services.
Mrs. Miller came to Stonewall
county with her husband last
fall from Cleburne, Texas, and
had resided in the Lingo com-
munity since that time. She
had been afflicted for four years
and for the past three months
had been confined to her bed.
She leaves a husband and little
girl about1 six years old to mourn
her untimely death, she having
been only 25 years of age when
she was called away.
Two brothers, Baylor and
Scott Looper of Cleburne
and J. A. Miller and family of
Rotan were present when the
end came.
We extend to the sorrowing
! husband, little girl and other
Í relatives our heartfelt sympathy
j in their hour of desolation.
j Notice to Cotton Raisers.
We have bought the Double
i Mountain gin and will have it
thoroughly overhauled and put
in good shape to gin your cotton
this fall. Don't forget us; we
want your business.
