One Reason Why we are Glad
we Live in Texas
When we see such exemplifica-
tion of pure and undefiled re-
ligion, as was shown toward Tom
Jones and family, near Vashti,
recently, we are made to feel
glad that we are of the south.
The following: clipping- from
the Bellevue News will explain:
JONES WORKING.
Owing to so much sickness in
his family and two deaths, Tom
Jones got so far behind with his
work the good people of Vashti
and surrounding country met
14th instant to help prepare his
crops: 45 men present, 40 work-
ed, using 112 horses and mules,
and broke 63 acres by 3 o'clock;
planted 30 acres corn on ground
already prepared by 5 o'clock.

A Tribute.
To the memory of Mrs. B. M.
comb who was ever ready with
gracious smile and willing hand
aid a noble cause.
When the message came in
gray,
To lay a burden down
Her pure, sweet soul sped heaven?
To wear the immortal crown.
Her labors here on earth are done,
Her smiles we'll-see no more
Until we meet in the great beyond,
At the angel-guarded door.
But the memory of her tender love
Will linger with us long,
Like bright, swéet music echoed
Prom a dear familiar song.
Now rest, dear friend, in the peace
you've earned,
The peace of the good and true;
We'll weave our loving kindest
thoughts
Into a laurel wreath for you.
Each leaf will tell of a life well spent,
Of deeds grand, sublime;
Its radiance all who pass may see.
It burns with a light divine.
A Friend.
