Giddinia.
Giddings, Texas, Dec. 3.—
Ned Jenkins of Caldwell and
Sledge Houston of Soinerville
and a party of local hunters
were out with a pack of eighteen
hounds Thursday and Friday
nights on a fox hunt. The first
night, after a two hdhrs and
forty minutes chase, they caught
one fox after having two up part
of the time. They were also
successful on Friday night.
Local hunters report that foxes
are plentiful in eaveral of the
large pastures in this county.
Some 25 to 40 parsons were in
the chase and numerous persons
were on* in cart to enjoy the

J. 8. Small, aged about 60
years, a highly respected farmer
of the Midway community, died
at 2 o'clock Saturday morning
and bis remains were laid to rest
In the Chriesman cemetery Sun-
day. He was up and about as
usual Friday and was only ill a
abort time before be died. He
was a good hard working man
a kind father, beloved husband
and good neighbor. He leave a
wife, one son and two daughters
to mourn his death.

Graveling Cemetery
Street Commenced.
Work was commenced Monday
by the street force under J. E.
Teaugue of graveling the streets
to Masonic cemetery, beginning
work at the corner of F. N. Fits-
geraM's residence on Nineth
street and working back to
Broadway, then on down to the
water works tower and will con-
tinue to the Santa Fe railway
joining the Buck street gravel,
and when completed will give a
good gravel street all the way to
the cemetery, which is badly
needed. Besides this, the street
will serve quite a number of
West Caldwell people who will
be able to travel it with cars
during bad weather. The work
on this street bas been delayed
some by the gravel company
failing to ship the gravel aa
fastas necessary.

Lieut. T. G. Cherry, United
States army, who was home at
Giddings on a furlough came
over and a pent Thuraday, Friday
and Saturday with bla brother.
Cashier Hugh Chetry. Lieut.
Cherry has been stationed in
Alaska tor many months, and
wss given a furlough for three
months, which ends on Decem-
ber 16th, when he will be
stationed at Detroit, Miohigan,
