CREATING THE 126TH JUDICIAL DISTRICT AND ALSO
RELATING TO THE 53RD AND 98TH.
H. B. No. 53.] CHAPTER 8.
An Act to amend Chapter 172, of the 41st Legislature, passed at its
Regular Session; to create the 126th Judicial District of Texas; to
fix and define the jurisdiction of the 53rd District Court, the 98th
District Court and the 126th District Court, to fix the terms of each
of said District Courts, to provide for Grand and Petit Juries in each
of said District Courts, for a clerk and for a District Attorney for
said District Courts, for continuance 'n office of the respective Judges
of the 53rd and 98th District Courts, to provide for the appointment
and election of a Judge for the 126th District Court, for appointment
of Court Reporters by the Judges of each of said Courts, for transferring
both civil and criminal cases by the respective Judges of
said Courts, to continue in effect writs, process, bonds, recognizances,
and orders, enacting proper provisions to continue any term of
Court that may be in session when this Act takes effect and to preserve
Grand and Petit Juries that may be drawn and selected when
this Act takes effect, and declaring an emergency.
Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Texas:
SECTION 1. The 53rd Judicial District shall continue as it
is now, to be composed of the County of Travis and the terms
of said Court shall remain unchanged and shall be as follows:
On the first Monday in January and may continue until and
including the last Saturday before the first Monday in March;
on the first Monday in March and may continue until and including
the last Saturday before the first Monday in May; on
the first Monday in May and may continue until and including
the last Saturday in July; provided that said May term may
by order of the Court entered in the minutes be continued for
such time as may be fixed by said order; and on the first Monday
in October and may continue until the last Saturday before
the 25th day of December.
SEC. 2. The 98th District Court of Travis County shall continue
to be composed of the County of Travis; and the terms
of said Court shall be held as follows; on the first Monday in
February and may continue until and including the last Saturday
in March; on the first Monday in April and may continue
until and including the last Saturday in May; on the first Monday
in June and may continue until and including last Saturday
in July; provided, that said June term may by order of the
Court entered in the minutes be continued for such time as
may be fixed by said order; on the first Monday in October
and may continue until and including the last Saturday in
November; and on the first Monday in December and may continue
until and including the last Saturday in January.
SEC. 3. The 126th Judicial District of Texas is hereby created
and said Judicial District shall be composed of the County
of Travis, and the terms of said Court shall be convened and
held as follows: On the first Monday in September and may
continue until and including the last Saturday in October; on
