THROITJNO DIES
Monday, Robeitt Chaney, I colored,
shot and seriously wounded his 'wife,
and a few seconds afterwards slashed
her throat with a razor. The shoot-
ing and cutting occured in the Allen
Carr farm quarters in the Brazos
bottom. The woman "was still liv-

reported thalt sthe stands a fair
chance of recovering.
Wednesday, the body of Chaney,
the husband of the woman shot, was
found dead on Haywood Wilson's
place near the mouth of Cedar
Creek. He had been sought and
chased for several hours 'with the
hope of arresting him, and it was
supposed that he died of exposure
and exhaustion.
Officers were summoned to hold
an inquest. As near as could be de-
termined, death was caused from na-
tural cause. It was presumed that
in running to elude arrest, he became
too hot, then too cool. He wus
chased through Black Lake and other
water sections and was held at bay
for two or three days and nights.
His body was found in a small neck
of woods near some negro homos.
He was unarmed of everything and
nothing indicated that he met death
otherwise.
Jealousy and family troubles Was
given as the cause of the difficulty.
