OFFICER HAS TROUBLE
KEEPING HIS MONEY
CORPUS CHRISTI — It jus
isn't in the cards for Deputy Sher-
iff Stephenson to save any money
for hi:, old age. When a bank failed
during the depression he lost what
he had saved. Then he decided not
to trust banks any more and bought
a safe which he used to hoard his
savings and valuables at home.
Last week while he and his family
were away fr-'in home a burglar
broke in and took the safe contain-
,ng $4,350 in cash together with
jewelry and bunds. T'.ie s.ife was
found minus the cash in an ad-
joining county.
BUSHEL OF APPLES

the teachers when the P. T. A. gave

each teachei was presented with
a bright shiny apple.

no one was near the -coin when
the explosion occurred the terrii'i ■
blast was heard over a radius of
more than '20 mi es. Only u deep
crater was left to mark th- spot
where 2,000 i|uarts of the explosive
had been stored for oil field use.
