DOROTHY LEE RYAN IS
BRIDE OF J. D. CARLTON. JR.
Of intorcdt to many relative
and frienda in the county was the
wadding on Friday evening, Aug-
ust lat of Miaa Dorothy Lee Ryan
and John D. Carlton, Jr., both of
Amarillo. The double ring rites
were read by the Reverend How-
ard Scott, pastor of the First
Baptist of Clarendon, in the First
Baptist Church in Amarillo.
Baskets of white chrysanthe-
mums, asters and gladioli and
arrangement* of emerald end
jade foliage formed the nuptial
setting. On either side of the
altar were seven-branched candel-
abra. Satin and greenery marked
the family pews.
Mrs. Howard Scott rendered
pre-nuptial selections ami accom-
panied Mrs. E. H. Sizemore as
she sang ' Because" and "Thine
Alone". She also played "Indian
Love Call" during the exchange
of vows. The traditional wedding
marches were used Candle lien-
ors were Miss Doris Lee Ryan
and James Ryan, cousin and
brother of • he bride.
Tho bride is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Lee W. Ryan, 'Í705
Fillmore and Mr. Ryan gave hia
daughter in marriage. She wore
a wedding gown of white lace,
net and tulle. The fitted bodies
of Chantilly lace tapered to a
deep waistline and the long fit-
ted sleeves came to points ovtr
the hands. The heavy satin skirt
was covered with laye of white
r.et and tulle and extended to
a chapel length train. White
Chantilly lace in an apron effect
also accented the skirt.
Her tiered elbow-length veil of
illusion was attached to a net
bonnet enhanced with orango
blossoms and seed pearls. She
wore an antique diamond neck-
lace belonging to her aunt and
carried a crescent arrangement of
fleur d'amai'.r accented with tul

Laffere has been with the
10th Infantry Division at Ft.
Riley for the past five months.
He will leave for Camp Stone-
man California. for re-assitcn-
ment after spending his fur-
lough here with relatives and
friends.

Miss Alice Marie Ryan attend-
ed her sister as maid-of-h per

Epperson, sister of the brid- -
groom, Miss Nell Hall and Miss
Betty Jean Ryan, sister of tho
bride. Thvy were attired in iden-
tical gowns of meadow blue tal-
le with scalloped necklines and
bouffant ski;-ts. Each wore match-
ing mitts and bouquets of filie
trimmed with orange blossoms.
They carried fan-shaped arranrr
ments of pink gladioli and rubiuin
lillies.
Flower girls were Linda Birge
and Beverley Epperson. They
were costumed like the brides-
maids and wore wristlets of fea-
thered carnations. Pat R.v i:>,
brother of the bride, was ring
bearer.
Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Carlton of
1208 Tyler are the groom's par-
ents and Mr. Carlton was hi"
son's best man. Groomsmen were
Richard Mann, Charles Jefferson
and Maek Settle. I)ean Hod<r< s
and Floyd Epperson were usher*.
For her daughter's marriair ■,
Mrs. Ryan chose to wear a beiir-
lace gown over toast taffeta.
Completing her ensemble were
pink accessories and a corsage of
pink sweetheart roses. The bride-
groom's mother selected an acqi.-i
lace gown over matching taffeta
and white accessories. Her cor-
sage was >f gardenias and fea-
thered carnations.
Following the ceremony, a re-
ception was held in the chur-h
parlor. The table was appointed
in crystal ano laid with a hand-
made imported lace and maderi
cloth. In the center was an ar-
rangements of white Majestic
daisies. The tiered cake was servid
by Miss Cecile Brown and put" h
waj hulled by Miss Melbaiee
l^ands. Miss Ruby Lee Floyd pre-
sided at the guest register.
Others in the housuparty were
Miss Betty Singleton, Miss Eli-
zabeth Moore, Mesdames Tola
liyan, C. W. Birge, J. R. Ryan
and A. M. Haddox, all aunts of
the bride.
For her wedding trip to New
Mexico, Colorado and Wyoming,
i M rs Carlton chose a blue and
white checked suit of orlon,
trimmed with white pique and
pearl buttoas with which she
! wore navy accessories and h >r
corsage of fleur d'amour.
After August 25, the couple
will be at home in Waco, whero
Mr. Carlton is attending Baylor
University. Mrs. Carlton has a
bachelor of business administra-
tion degree from Baylor, where
she was a member of Phi Gam-
ma Nu. Both are members of the
Baylor Panhandle Club.

in the Harmony community and
are related to the Ralph and
Lester Williams, Mrs. E. W. Bar-
tay, Mrs. Jerry Isbell, Mrs. An-
drew Davis and numerous otheis
in the county).
