PRISON RODEO FEATURE
A favorite of the West Coast, where she has been
appearing at horse shows and rodeos the past i' months,
Mrs. Fay Kirkwood and her horse Crown Jewel will be one
of the top specialty acts appearing between convict riding
events at each of the five big performances of the 24th
Annaul Prison Rodeo, each Sunday afternoon in October, at
Huntsville this year.
Scamardo. David Schoeneman,
Eugene Verwold, Frank Chmelar
and Robert Verwold. Lee Alford
plans to exhibit a herd sire. These
boys have done a good job in pre-
paring their animals for exhibi-
tion and it is felt that this year
the public will see the best beef
calf exhibit that has ever been
held at the fair.

New door latches give ad'led
protection against the chance that
doors may open under impact.
They have been proved in full
scale crash tests at Dearborn,
Mich.
To keep the driver's chest from
hitting the steering column in a
•rash, the new three-spoke Ford
steering wheel has its center hub
recessed 3 1-h inches below the
wheel rim.
Rear view mirrows have a
special backing designed to pre-
vent shattering.
Front and rear seat mountings
have been strengthened so they
will resist greater impact.
In addition. Ford offers two
optional devices. Seat belts, de-
signed to withstand pull up to
4,000 pounds, will help to hold
occupants inside cars, and to pre-
vent forward motion. Foam plas-
tic padding for instrument panels
and sun visors will help to ab-
sorb impact if a person is acci-
dentally thrown forward.
Styling advances in the Ford
for '5fi include a new grille with
oblong parking lights at the
outer <' ids. set in frames which
wrap around the fender sides.
Body side molding is restyled for
Fairlane, Station Wagon and
Customline models. Restyled tail
¡amps and deck handles, a larg-r
recessed hood ornament and a
"ompletejy new instrument panel
•ire offered in all models.
The 1950 Victoria is 1 1-2 in-
hes lower than the comparahle
955 model. Two door and four
loor sedans also have new tops
reducing total car height almost
i full inch. However, headroom
was not reduced since the contour
change is mostly along the top's
enter line, and fabric headlinings
are installed closer to the ste l
top.
An addition to the line is the
Parklane Station Wagon, a two
door car which offers an eight by
five-foot load space with tailgate
extended. It is fitted inside with

Early in 'he model year. Ford
will start production of a new
four door Victoria style in which
side pillars have been eliminated
to provide all around vision.

standard on 1956 models, provid-
ing 80 pet cent faster engine
cranking arid more capacity to
handle the increasing number of
accessories being ordered on cars
today. The new 30-ampere Foul
generator has 61 per cent greater
power output than last year's
