CROCKETT, HOUSTON COUNTY, TEXAS, FRIDAY, MAY 9, 1913.
I. & G. N. LOSES IN
SUPREME COURT
New Corporation Is Charged
With all Franchise Obliga-
tions of Old Company.
Austin, Texas, May 7.—The
supreme court today affirmed the
decision of the court of civil ap-
peals at Galveston in the injunc-
tion case of the International
and Great Northern Railway
Company vs. Anderson County,
et al., which involves the re-
moval of the general offices and
machine shops of the company
from Palestine.
The decision is in effect a vic-
tory for Anderson County as to
enjoining the defendant com-
pany from removing its machine
shops and round houses from
Palestine, but as to the question
of requiring the company to
move back to Palestine its gen-
eral offices, which had been re-
moved to Houston and New Or-
leans, the court indicates this
may have to be determined on a
trial of the main cause.
PICNIC AT PALESTINE
they have decided to make an
annual occurrence of it.
They have secured one of • the
best aviators in the world to
make exhibition flights for the
benefit of the public, and have
also secured the world's most
greatest parachute jumper who
is hurled from his machine by
an explosion, and making a dar-
ing leap from the aeroplane
while hundreds of feet in mid
air.
There will be plenty of amuse-'
ments on the ground and an im- j
mense dancing pavilion has been ¡
erected and music will be fur-1
nished for those who care to
dance.
There will be plenty to eat on
the grounds served by the ladies
of Palestine, and the location of
the grounds is only a few min-
utes walk from the depot.
We will have a special round
trip rate of only 80 cents from
Crockett, and all are promised
the best time of their life.
This is a good chance for the
people of Crockett and Houston
county to be able and see some
good aeroplane flights and it is
hoped that Crockett will send
one of the largest crowds to our
sister city's big annual picnic.

spending a day or so in Austin
on legal business before the
higher courts. He is enthusias-
tic in regard to industrial condi-
tions in the section where he
lives.
"Crockett, the capital of
Houston County,." said he, "is
rapidly developing into one of
the largest and most progressive
towns in East Texas. We now
have railroad facilities to all
points of the compass, practi-
cally, and a number of new in-
dustries have recently been
launched. For instance, a $100,-
000 cotton chopper factory is on
the list of new enterprises and
will be put into operation some
time within the next few months.
We are offering good induce-
ments to people who want to
buy homes in Houston County,
and many are taking advantage
of them."—Austin Statesman.

At the Methodist Church in
Crockett, revival services . were
begun last Sunday, with Rev. G
C. Bell of Houston, doingfthe
preaching, and Mr. Geo. P. Bled-
soe of Gilmer, conducting'?the
music. Mr. Bell is a very inter-
esting preacher, speaking flu-
ently and forcefully and i com-
manding the close attention of
his hearers. Up to the time of
going to press the congregation
have been growing and the in-
terest is deepening. Mr. Bled-
soe is earnest in his work and
has gotten a number of voices
into the choir. The meetings
are to continue through next
week, having services daily at
10 a. m., and 8 p. m. On Sun-
day afternoon at 3:30 o'clock a
speciál service in recognition of
"Mothers' Day" will be held to
which everybody is invited.

The Convenience of
Local Store
tbe
Have you ever thought what
kind of a place this would be to
live in, if there were no local
stores ?
Yet some of our people persist
in the policy of buying in other
cities as far as they can, or by
mail order. If they want a
yeast cake or a spool of thread,
they buy it at home, sometimes
even demanding delivery. But
if they have a dress or a table to
buy, something in which there
is some margin of profit, the or-
der goes away.
Isn't it a mighty convenient
thing to have the home stores so
that when you want the yeast
cake or spool of thread or a
thousand other things, you can
get them quick ?
If the policy of buying away
from home should ever become
general, many lines of goods now
kept here could not be kept. The
public would suffer a distinct in-
covenience, and the first ones to
kick would be those who now
buy away from home.
On the contrary, if everyone
bought everything possible at
home, many lines of goods could
be improved, and new ones
added, thus making it possible to
trade with the least expenditure
of time.
A dashing young lady was ex-
plaining to a handsome and in-
experienced foreman the differ-
ence between printing and pub-
lishing, and in conclusion said:
"Now you may print a kiss
upon my cheek, but you must
not publish it." With that he
locked the fair form in his arms
and went to .press.—The Call,
