Harrison county, at tha ensuing August election.
Jan. 10, 1852—n35.
ST SAMUEL F. MÜ6ELEV, Esq., of Cass
county, is a candidate for District Attorney, for tiie
.Sixth Judicial District, at tha ensuing election.
In due time, I will publish an address to the peo-
ple of the District, setting forth my opinions of the
moral, personal, and legal qua'if.catvms, that should
characterize that officer; and the duties connected
therewith."
As soon as my health will permit, I will take
pleasure in visiting the people, addressing them f ci-
to face, and making my views on this subject more
fall? known, as I deem that office to be second to
none in the State, to sustain and vindicate the laws
of the land, ar.d in protecting the rights of her citi
sens. I wish—yea, I demand at least for mys-it,
that these things be fully discussed by the press and
the people, and in sodding, that you " nothing exten-
uate nor aught set down in malice." Such is the
ordeal I am of opinion all public officers should pass
through before they ar^ permitted to assume the pow-

profits arising therelorm. When the m vits and

that no threats, or persuasion could iuduce him to
drop the name of his favorite Forbes. So knowing
that our friend F. would as soon fill the bill o I a
man dressed in honest heme spun, as if decked out
in Fabre's "latest agony," we wisely concluded to
compromise the matter, and give Fabre and his fine

talking of matters of thissort, it is rather lard, for
one to get far off-the tra?k, who confines himself to
the business men of New Orleans, for they all under

their names in the Patriot, where "all whom it may
