Bolivar, Sept 1st 1858

My dear Child,
I received your affectionate
letter last night, & feel comforted that you
are so careful to write me as often as you
do. I spent the day yesterday at Mr Woods.
went particularly to see Mary Hill, & I
got you some of Mr Woods goard seed
corn as you desired, tho he says it is
not genuine, & some of the largest & finest
peach seed I ever saw, the yellow soft
& two or three of the white plum peach
which they raised from the seed. I never
saw such. I am sorry the (?) were
injured,  they were so excellent & so pretty,
& mine I expect will share the same
fate & I shall regret it, because it is
so good,  I cannot see why they should
be injured,  it must be from carelessness.
If Janatt comes up to his word I shall
start you a check for 200 in a few days
& am sorry I cannot raise more, & that you
have been so long kept out of it. We are
sorry to hear Doct Brown will not be likely
