county, Texas, at the Court House In
the town of Orange on the 10th day of
August, IMS. Present and prealdlng
W. J. Win gate. County Judge, J. J
Windham, commlaaloner precinct No
1, ftobt. Garner, precinct No. S, R. C.
Oravett, precinct No. S, B. D. Harris,
precinct No. 4, C. L. Goodman, clerk,
and R. M. Johnson, sheriff.
The following bualneaa waa trans-
acted. to-wit:

Welder had erroneously paid taxes
due on lot 12 In block 6 of the Jsckson
surrey on lot 2 of block « of the Jsck-
son survey snd he was released from
the payment of taxes on lot 12 for the
year 1S97.
Allen MUler was released from tne
payment of taxes for 1891-2 on €00
acres la the David Sudduth survey on
a similar clsim.
J. O. Johnson wss released from pay-
ment of taxes for the year IMS on one
lot in town of Orange for similar res-
eons.
Similar releases were granted to 8.
P. Wilson and T. MontaJbano.
Henrietta Jones was allowed M-00
on panper claim.
Court ordered the anm of 11000.00
transferred from the bond atnking
fond to the road snd bridge fttnd.
County treaaorer waa Inatructed to
purchase for the oounty the four Jail
repair bonds of 1495 each, dated April
10, IMS, and bearing Interest at the
rata of three and one-half per cent for
the bridge bond fund at par on accrued
interest and pay for the same out of
the bridge bond fund.

The Klrby Lumber company was re-
leased from the payment of taxes on
lots Nos. 1. 2, 3, 4 and 5 in block
No. 1 of the Jsckson survey for the
years 1889, 1890-1-2-3-4-5-6, it having
taxesoathesaid 1
had been paid for those years by Thos.
Bancroft A Sons, who then owned said
property, but wss erroneously paid on
loto 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 in block No. 2, in-
stead of block No. 1 of the Jackson
survey.
The county treaaurer was ordered
to transfer from the bridge fund the
amount now on hand to the road and
bridge fund.
John Linscomb wss allowed $5 per
month as a panper claim for taklag
care of his aMlcted child.
Application of Mrs M. A. Belden
for Confederate widow's pension was
granted.
Application for C. Unscombe. of
Confederate veteran's pension wss
granted.
The report of Jury of view appoint-
ed to make a change In the public road
along the Une of the O. A N. W. rail-
road was approved and the change In
said road ordered. .
The monthly reports of the tax col-
lector, R. M. Johnson, for the months
of Msy, June snd July were approved.
The annual report at Collector R. M
Johnson was approved.
Charles Klllion woe allowed 95 as
pauper claipi.
C. D. Edwards was appointed con-
stable of precinct No. 1 and his bond
in the sum of 91000. Moncln Bros,
snd Robinson A Watson as sureties,
was approved.
The spplicstlon of John Berwick snd
others for s third class road from a
point on the Oranos snd Newton rend

bonds to be known as the "Orange
County Jnil Repair Bonds" for the re-
pair of the Orange couaty JaiL There
will be four of these bonds for the
amount of 9495.00 each sad they will
bear date of July 10, IMS. The boad*|
ara due forty years after date but
may be redeemed and cancelled at
Say time after ten years at the plea-
sure of the couaty. They bear inter-
est at the rate of four per oent. per
annum payable April 10 of each year.
It was further ordered by the court

appointed a Jury of view to lay out and
work the boundaries of said road.
The court ordered the county attor-
ney to bring suit in the name of the
county of Orange against ex-Sheriff
John Robertson and his bondsmen on
hie county colector's bond for the
amount due Orange county for taxes
collected and not turned over to the
county treasurer and for commissions
on taxes collected by him in excess of
the amount allowed by law and retain-
ed by him as tax collector of Orange
county.
The proposition of A. M. H. Stark
and J. C. McCulloch to make mapa of
Orange county for the county was re-
jected.
The application of J. C. Owen and
others asking for a change in the di-
rection of a part of the public road to Í
Buna was granted and J. C. Owen, J.
P. Thomas, Edgar Peet, Willis Peet
and Henry Willey were appointed a'
Jury of view to lay off and work the
st ¿old wad.
The Jail report of Sheriff R. M. John*
son waa ordered approved.
A .Gilmer was relieved of tsxes for
the year 1M1 on lots 1 to 8 in block
A2 and lots 1 to 6 in block A2 for the
year 1900, it having been shown to the
satisfaction of the court that the prop-
erty Is in block Al of the Sheldon
survey and that Mr. Gilmer
had paid taxes on the whole of
block Al for both of the yeara named.
A. Gilmer was relieved of taxes on
the following property for similar rea*
sons:
Lot 0, block 26 amended Sheldon sur-
vey for the year 1897.
Lot 3, block 18, amended Sheldon
eurvey for the year 1897.
Lots 1, 2 and 3, block 17, smended
Sheldon survey for the yesr 1897.
Lot 4, block 18, amended Sheldon
survey, tor the years 1898, 1900 and
IML
Lots 6 and 7, block 3, Calder survey,
for the year 1899.
Lot 3, block 4, Calder survey, for the
years 1898, 1899, 1900, 1M1 and 1902.
Lots 3 to 6, block 13, Calder survey,
for the years 1898-9, 1M0-1-2.
Out lot 6, Calder survey, for tha
year 1899.
Out lot 10, Calder i urv*y, for the
years 199, 1900 and 1902.

Orange, for the years 1898, ISM,
and 1M1, it having been abosra to tha
court that the taxes bad been paid by
A. Gilmer as acreage property, ha
being the owner of the property at that
time.
The same ruling on the sama
grounds was made in the cnse of B.
R. Maxwell on lot 7 in block IS of
the aame addition for the aame years.
Á. Gilmer was relieved of the pay*
ment of taxes on 30 acres of land in
the. G. B. Nettervtille survey for tho
year 1897 he having produced his re-
ceipt for taxes already paid for that
year on this land. He was also reliev-
ed of taxes on 18 acres in the A. Gil-
mer survey for the yenra 1896 to IMS
Inclusive, and 14 acres in the Christisa
Warner survey for the years ISM to
1902 incluaive, it having been proven
to the saUsfaction of the court thnt
