ALL PERSONS EMPLOYED BY THE BUREAU OF PENSIONS ARE PAID FOR THEIR SERVICES BY THE GOVERNMENT OF THE UNITED STATES, AND ARE NOT ENTITLED TO COLLECT ANY MONEY FROM ANY INDIVIDUAL FOR PERFORM- ING THEIR OFFICIAL DUTIES. ANY PERSON WHO PRETENDS TO BE AN OFFICER OF THE BUREAU, AND DEMANDS COMPENSATION FOR HIS ALLEGED SERVICES IN THAT BEHALF, IS AN IMPOSTOR, AND SHOULD BE TURNED OVER TO AN OFFICER OF THE LAW. The OBJECT OF THIS CIRCULAR is to protect all persons having business with the Bureau against the swindling schemes of unprin- cipled IMPOSTORS, who falsely claim to be officers of the Government having power to grant pensions, arrears, and increase, and who collect money from their victims.
