a memo to the TJP earlier this week,
Michael said:
"I have accepted the position of
Assistant Principal (Director of Judaic
Studies) at the Solomon Schechter
Academy of St. Louis. The school has
more than 200 students and is housed
in a beautiful tour-year-old building
(next to B'nei Emoonah Synagogue).,
As it turns out, one very good friend
of mine is already a Conservative
rabbi in St. Louis and another good
friend of mine is moving to St. Louis
to serve as the head rabbi of another
synagogue.
"We are very excited about the
move. As I understand it, there are
around 60,000 Jews in St. Louis. They
have half a dozen Orthodox shuls,
four Conservative and many Reform
temples. There are also a number of
great universities and two Jewish
Community Centers. Lorie has
already had some very promising
interviews and might even move into
town with a job.
"We have really enjoyed our stay in
Fort Worth, and we have made a
number of friends with whom we will
surely remain in contact with in the
years to come but at this time, this
seems like the best move for us.
"We really appreciate all of the
kindness and generosity that the Fort
Worth community has shown us and
we hope to be back often for many
happy occasions and visits. For now
we hope that our friends will join us in
St. Louis for Phoebe's bat mitzvah to
be held over Thanksgiving weekend."
