Welcome to new
Scout leadership
At a recent Brotherhood board
meeting, Buzz Deitchman, president
of Temple Emanu-El Brotherhood, in-
troduced Sam Noble as the new Scout-
master of Troop 729. Brotherhood
has been the Chartered Organization
Sponsor of the Troop for over 80 years.
Noble, in his talk to the Brotherhood,
told of the Scouts' mission "to reach
out to teenage boys and strive to aid
parents in the healthy development of
their children." Deitchman added that
You're not getting
any younger
or any healthier...
the Brotherhood is also trying to help
with the recruiting of boys and parents
in evolving the Troop.
Anyone interested in seeing what
Scouting is all about is invited to come
to any of the Scout meetings on most
Thursday nights at the Temple Weiss
Youth Wing. Also, a special program,
April 13 in Preston Hollow Park, 6600
Park Lane at Thackery, will feature
demonstrations of first aid, fire build-
ing, orienteering, knots and lashing.

Troop 729, contact Buddy Gilbert,

Professor Levine, who belongs to
an Orthodox synagogue, was raised
in a Massachusetts community where
interactions between Jews and Catho-

academic expertise. Her most recent
book, "The Misunderstood Jew: The
Church and the Scandal of the Jew-
ish Jesus" (available in Beth Torah's
Judaica shop for $24.95), received rave
reviews from Publishers Weekly and
The New York Times, and has en-
couraged open, honest communica-
tion between Christians and Jews.
At Beth Torah, Dr. Levine will pres-
ent "Jewish/Christian Relations: Prob-
lems and Possibilities"; "Is the New
Testament Anti-Jewish?" and "How
Jews and Christians Read Scripture."
Her SMU lecture, "Jesus and Juda-
ism," will begin at 7:30 p.m. in Mc-
Cord Auditorium, third floor of Dallas
Hall, north end of the SMU campus
on Hillcrest Road.
A single registration fee includes all
events: the Thursday presentation at
SMU, Friday evening services at Beth
Torah with an enhanced Oneg Shab-
bat, Saturday services and luncheon at
Beth Torah, Saturday evening Havdal-
lah services with a wine and cheese re-
