There was no objection offered and
it was so ordered.

as voting Nay on the passage of
H. B. No. 859, the Vote being on
May 5.

Brewster: Congratulating Former
President Harry S. Truman on his
eighty-third birthday.
On motion of Mr. Weldon, the
names of all Members of the House
were added to H. S. R. No. 350 as
signers thereof.

eral James E. Taylor.
MEMORIAL RESOLUTION

The following Memorial Resolution
was adopted unanimously by a ris-
ing vote:

TO PROVIDE FOR A STUDY OF
FEASIBILITY OF ESTABLISH-
ING CERTAIN TEACHER-
TRAINING PROGRAMS, ETC.
Mr. Jamison offered the following
resolution:
H. S. R. No. 351
Whereas, There is evidence of a
shortage of public school teachers
qualified under existing certification
requirements; and
Whereas, There may be numbers of
mature, well-educated persons not
specifically trained to teach who
would enter the teaching profession,
provided training geared to their
level of attainment were provided
and could be completed within a
reasonable time; and
Whereas, Present certification pro-
cedures and requirements in prepara-
tion for teaching seem generally to
be aimed toward undergraduate in-
struction, rather than toward the
training of the more mature and al-
ready well-educated person; and
Whereas, This House has already
passed House Bill 664, directing the1921
