Johnson; and
Whereas, It is the desire of the
60th Legislature of the State of Tex-
as that the Honorable Dean Rusk be
invited to address a Joint Session of
the 60th Legislature at 11 a.m. on
January 26, 1967; now, therefore, be
it
Resolved, by the House of Repre-
sentatives of the State of Texas, the
Senate concurring, That the Honor-
able Dean Rusk be and he is hereby
invited to address a Joint Session of
the 60th Legislature in the House of
Representatives at 11 a.m. on Jan-
uary 26, 1967; and that an official
copy of this Resolution of invitation
be forwarded to Secretary Rusk.

PROVIDING FOR THE CLOSING
OF STATE OFFICES AT CER-
TAIN TIME FOR INAUGURAL
CEREMONY
Mr. Foreman offered the following
resolution:
H. C. R. No. 5
Whereas, The Honorable John
Connally and The Honorable Preston
Smith will assume the office of Gover-
nor and Lieutenant Governor, respec-
tively, of the State of Texas, at Inau-
gural Ceremonies at noon on Tues-
day, January 17, 1967; and
Whereas, All citizens of the State
of Texas are cordially invited and
urged to attend the Inauguration and
other activities in conjunction with
this occasion; and
Whereas, It is proper and desirable
that the many employees of the State
of Texas be afforded the opportunity
to participate in the Inauguration of
The Honorable John Connally and
The Honorable Preston Smith; now,
therefore, be it
Resolved, by the House of Repre-
sentatives of the State of Texas, the
Senate concurring, That all state of-
fices are closed, emergency service

excepted, beginning at 11:30 a.m. on
January 17, 1967, so that all state of-
ficials and employees may witness
the Inaugural Ceremony, the parade,
and other activities planned for this
event.

PROVIDING FOR THE CLOSING
OF THE CAPITOL GROUNDS TO
MOTOR VEHICLES ON INAUG-
URATION DAY
Mr. Pipkin offered the following
resolution:
H. C. R. No. 6
Whereas, The Legislature of the
State of Texas has proclaimed the
Inauguration of the newly elected
Governor and Lieutenant Governor for
Tuesday, January 17, 1967, following
the convening of the Legislature in
each regular biennial session; and
Whereas, The Inauguration Cere-
monies will be held in public at the
South entrance of the State Capitol;
and
Whereas, The movement of motor
vehicles upon the Capitol grounds,
streets, and runways on said day will
be hazardous to the life and limb of
the great throng assembled for said
Inaugural Ceremonies; now, there-
fore, be it
Resolved, by the House of Repre-
sentatives of the State of Texas, the
Senate concurring, That the State
Board of Control be and is hereby
instructed to close all entrances to
the Capitol grounds to motor vehicles
on January 17, 1967, except those
vehicles approved by the Inaugural
Committee as necessary for use in
connection with said ceremony and
the program following.
The resolution was read and was
adopted without objection.
PROVIDING FOR PAYMENT
OF CERTAIN INAUGURAL
EXPENSES
Mr. Slack offered the following
resolution:
