Diane's father killed in Indiana

A Vincennes, Indiana man
was killed Tuesday, June 4,
near the intersection of U.S. 50
and Ind. 45 at Loogootee when
his pickup truck was struck
from the rear by a tractor-
trailer truck."
The victim is Kichard F.
Scohy, 60, Route 3. Loogootee
police reported Scohy's truck
was stopped in the eastbound
land about 100 feet west of the
intersection, waiting for a
traffic light to ojiange. His truck
was hit by a semi-truck driven
by Russell D. Chastain, 24,
Paoli, Ind. The impact drove
Scohy's pickup into the rear of
another semi driven by James
Carrie, 56, Decker, Ind.
According to police, brakes
on Chastain's truck apparently
failed. The cab of his truck
drove up over the bed of Scohy's
pickup, coming to rest atop the
passenger compartment. Scohy
was alone in his truck.
Chastain and Carrie were
uninjured.
Chastain was charged with
driving into and against the
property of another.
Scohy was born Nov. 24,1913,
in Sistersville, W. Va., a son of
Nestor and Florence Sine
Scohy. He was a World War II
veteran, a member of the
American Legion,' VFW, the
Elks, St. John's United Church
of Christ, and the Vincennes
Township Volunteer Fire
Department. He was employed
as parts manager at I&S-
McDaniel, Inc.
Surviving are his wife, Lorna
Harris Scohy; a son, James
Richard Port Huron,
Eigan; three daughters,
Diane Elizabeth Shaffer'^°
Grande City Texas; Larna
Frances " '
111 and Jean Ann Scohy, at
home; a brother, John L. Scohy,
Sistersville, W.Va.; a sister.
Joan Scohy Roush, St. Albans,
W.Va.; a granddaughter,
Pamela, Port Huron, Michigan;
two step-sisters, Vivienne
Scohy Gargani, Reynoldsburg,
Ohio and Rose Marie Scohy
Corbin, Reynoldsburg, Ohio;
two step-brothers, Nestor
Russell Scohy, Bowie,
Maryland and Norman F.
Scohy, Lancaster, Ohio.
Services were held Friday,
June 7 at 2 p.m. in Brockman
and Son Chapel with the Rev.
Albert Willhouse officiating and
burial in Memorial Park
Cemetery.
The family has requested that
memorial contributions be
made to the Disabled American
Veterans, George M. Mullins,
Adjt. & TVeas., D.A.V. Chapter
10, 871 Emison Avenue, Vin-
cennes, Indiana 47591.
