the ENERGY
EFFICIENCY
AWARD
THIS HOUSE
HAS EARNED
THE
ENERGY
EFFICIENCY
AWARD
DESIGNED
FOR WISE USE OF
ELECTRICITY
... a way to make energy savings
a part of your house plan.
Planning to build or buy a new
all-electric home? Planning to remodel your
present home?
If so, Central Power and Light
Company's Energy Efficiency Award
should be included in your plans. A house
which has earned the Energy Efficiency
Award is a house that is designed and built
to help you stretch the dollars you spend
for electric service.
It is a house that is well insulated, is
completely weatherstripped, ;ind is
equipped with efficient electric heating and
cooling systems. These and many other
features which can affect the home's
energy efficiency are checked and
certified by a qualified technician from
CPL.
If you live in a home which has
earned the Energy Efficiency Award, and
if you make a habit of using energy
wisely, you'll be getting the maximum
benefit out of every kilowatt hour you
buy. For more information about the
Energy Efficiency Award, ask your
builder, realtor, or designer. Or drop by
your CPL office.

Special Interest Groups Receive Special Benefits
There are some questions as
to the benefits that the average
individual will receive from the
proposed constitution,
especially as to PROPOSITION
5, (Article 8) because of the
advantageous treatment for tax
purposes given to special in-
terest groups. For instance,
Article 8, Section 3 provides
that the legislature "shall
establish separate formulas for
appraising land to promote the
preservation of forest land
devoted to timber production."
This same provision to change
the constitution has been
refused by the voters of Texas
several times during recent
years, and here it is again in the
proposed constitution. This is
just one of the many examples
of a special interest group being
given advantageous treatment
for tax purposes under the new
constitution.
