Accidental
Discovery May
End Obesity
Suppresses calorie absorption
SWEDEN-Mcdical researchers at
the University of Kuopio, in Fin-
land, have discovered (accidentally)
a new weight-loss formula. The new
discovery appears to enable an over-
weight individual to lose pounds and
fatly tissue without conventional di-
eting or exercise.
Scientists made the discovery while
searching for a formula to lower
cholesterol. In a controlled study of
a test group of people, cholesterol
levels remained unchanged but the
doctors were astounded to find that
every patient who used the formula
lost weight. The published report of
this study stated, "A highly signifi-
cant decrease in body weight was
seen" in patients who received the
formula.
The formula was then tested at an-
other prestigious European univer-
sity hospital: Again, all patients lost
weight even though they did not
change their eating habits. The re-
port detailing this study, published
in the British Journal of Nutrition,
stated: "Body weight was signifi-
cantly reduced even though the pa-
tients were specifically asked not to
alter their dietary habits". One pa-
tient in this study lost more than 30
pounds.
According to one informed source,
the active ingredient comes from a
100% natural botanical source and
contains no drugs or stimulants. When
taken before mealtime it bonds with
the food you eat and ' 'ties up'' calo-
ries, especially those from tats, sup-
pressing their absorption.
A significant portion of the calo-
ries ingested therefore pass through
the digestive system unabsorbed. Ine
body has to get energy to replace the
lost calories, so it starts to burn stored
fat, which can result in rapid body
weight loss. Clinical testing has
verified the safely of this formula for
long-term use.
The formula is marketed in cap-
sule form in the United States under
the trade name Cal-Ban 3000. A
firm located in Tampa, Florida, has
exclusive N'cjrth American distribu-
tion rights./f^Vevicw of the customer

Word was recently received at Rio
Grande City High School that the
publication, "The Prufrock Journal:
The Journal of Secondary Gifted
Education (Winter 1990), had
published Maria Luana Gonxalcx'
poem entitled "Maria's Song".
The poem was submitted along
with an instructional article by
Mrs. Beverly BcrgerThrom. Luana
wrote the poem for Mrs. Throm's
English class for Gifted students at
H.M. King High School in
Kingsville, during her freshman
year.
That same year, "Maria's Song"
had been selected for exhibition in
the challenge Gifted and Talented
Fair at that school district. She
said, "1 was completely surprised,
but very happy.?
Luana is now a junior at Rio
Grande City High School, under the
educational guidance of Mrs.
Barbara Ozuna and a student in Mrs.
Carol Fathrce's Advanced English
class. Luana's parents arc Mr. and
Mrs. Enrique Gonzalez of Rio
Grande City.
The poem "Maria's Song" reads,
as follows:
I'm thankful for my loving
parents,
For my understanding friends
For this growing world we live
in.
The unchanging sky,
And, even the howling winds.
I love dreaming,
And freeing the creativity within.
By clearing out the cobwebs up
above,
Creating - destroying is sorrow.
Sharing with the world is love.
1 want to live in a free world.
I want war and the bomb to
leave.
I want my friends to be with me.
I want to be happy.
Not to grieve.
