muffed Bescher's long drive. Paakert
made such a remarkably qulok re-

the spectators thought he had merely
juggled the hall. The play even fooled
Bescher who after running to second
and thinking he was out. started back
for tte bench and was run out. This
prevented Cincinnati from winning as
Dodge's single scored Packard aiid

By Th Auoctattd Press
Detroit July 11. Boaton divided
today's doable-header the home team
winning the first game by 3 to 1 and
the visitors taking the second by
te 2.
The first game was featured by ex-
cellent fielding by both teams Cobb's
two catches in oentarfleld being par-
ticularly brilliant. Lewis' batting and
fielding were sensational In the sec-
ond contest. He secured three sin
gles and a double In four times at
hat and made a running bare-handed
catch of a long fly that brought th.-
crowd to its feet with a cheer.
Boston did practically all of their
scoring in the eighth inning of the
second game when singles by Hooper
Speaker Wagner and Thomas Lewis'
sacrifice hit and a base on balls to
darner netted five runs. Detroit's
two in the second Inning were tallied
on singles by Gainer and Lake and
McKee's triple.
