State-Wide Perspectives on Partnerships
Welcome to Volume VI of The Journal of the Effective Schools Project. We are very proud of this edition of
The ESP Journal. This is the first issue of the Journal that has been produced with the help of an editorial
board and is also the first issue with a state-wide focus. Editorial board members represent a cross section of
the educational community across the state and the review process involved a blind review with three read-
ers for each refereed article. We welcome the contributors from other university/school partnerships across
the state.
Partnerships between public schools and universities offer unique opportunities to enhance the educational
experiences of preservice and inservice teachers as well as public school students. Sharing these practices
will enable the educational community across the state to benefit from best practices. The articles included
in this issue represent a variety of views of school-university partnerships across the state as well as other
kinds of school partnerships. The articles submitted by Drs. Thomas Armstrong, William H. Peters, Ann
Calahan and Bill Larmer were invited. There is, as well, a number of articles describing partnerships at
Tarleton State University and in schools belonging to the Effective Schools Project.
We hope you enjoy this issue of The Journal of the Effective Schools Project.
