Sexual Assault Prevention & Crisis
Services
The Texas Department of Health is accepting letters of
intent to apply for Sexual Assault Prevention and Crisis
Services funding, as authorized by the Preventive Health
and Health Services block grant and state appropriations.
Funds will be available October 1, 1989. Letters of intent
to apply for funds should be sent by February 15, 1989, to
Gene Weatherall, Chief, Bureau of Emergency Manage-
ment, 1100 West 49th Street, Austin, Texas 78756-3199.
Applications will be due on or before April 3, 1989, at 5
p.m. Eligible entries who send letters of intent will receive
application kits consisting of materials pertinent to submit-
ting an application. An eligible entity is a rape crisis center
which has been providing service on or before January 1,
1989, and which provides a 24-hour hotline, counseling
and accompaniment, liaison, professional training, and
public education. In approving an applicant, the depart-
ment will consider the applicant's background, experience,
community support, services to be offered, and population
and gegraphic area to be serviced Approved applicants
will enter into a contract with the department to provide

Consultant Contract Award
The Texas Health and Human Services Coordinating
Council awarded a contract for consultant services to
Performances Resources, Inc., 8500 El Rey Boulevard,
Austin, Texas 78737. The consultant proposal request
published by the council for a training plan for implemen-
tation of the commurntyv resource coordination process,
appeared in thr September 30, 1988, Issue of the Texas
Register (13 TexReg 4876). The contract was awarded on
December 15, 1988, under the provisions of Texas Civil
Statutes, Article 6252-1 1c The contract begins December
15, 1 38, and ends Septemlbc-r 31, 1989 The total value of
the contract may not exceed 549,890. Under the terms of
this contract, Performance Resources, Inc. shall implement
community resource coordination groups in the following
pilot sites: Tarrant, Travis, Val Verde, and Henderson
