NINTH SOUTHWESTERN EXHIBITION OF PRINTS AND DRAWINGS - 1959 Sponsored by the DALLAS MUSEUM OF FINE ARTS and the DALLAS PRINT SOCIETY The competition is open to artists residing in Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas DATES Entries will be received no later than 6 o'clock Sunday afternoon, December 14, 1958. Exhibition of the accepted prints and drawings will be open at the Dallas Museum of Fine Arts on January 4, 1959. The exhibition will be shown on circuit throughout the area until February, 1960, dates of exhibition to be announced later. ELIGIBILITY Any artist who has been a legal resident of the seven states listed above for one year or more is eligible. Two entries in any combination may be submitted. Works done in class or under instruc- tion are not eligible. MEDIA AND SIZE All media in prints and drawings are eligible. They must be matted 16 by 20, 18 by 22, or 22 by28, and must not be framed. Mats must have rigid cardboard backing. Each entry will be wrapped by the Dallas museum in heavy clear acetate for protection. JURY Harold Joachim, Curator of Prints and Drawings, the Art Institute of Chicago. PRIZES Purchase funds will be available and awarded by the juror. A list of the purchase funds will be announced later. All entries will be considered eligible for purchase funds unless otherwise noted. DELIVERY AND RETURNS It is understood that accepted entries will remain with the exhibition until the close of the circuit in February, 1960, at which time they will be returned to the artist prepaid. Rejected entries will be returned to the artist collect as soon as they can be packed after the judging. SALES Every effort will be made to promote sales, to encourage the production and acquisition of prints and drawings. 10% commission will be deducted by the museum making the sale. INSURANCE Accepted entries will be insured by the Dallas Museum of Fine Arts at no cost to the artist while on exhibition and during the circuit.
