Rev. Abraham Lincoln Randon completed a full and rich
christian life on August 13, 1982. He was born April
17, 1903 in Brazoria, Texas, the second child born to
the late Rev. and Mrs. E.M. Randon, Sr., who preceded
him in death. He was also preceded in death by two
brothers and one sister.
Rev. Randon received his early education at Brazoria,
Tx. His higher education included work at Prarie View
College, Texas Southern University, and Conroe College,
where he received his Doctor of Divinity Degree. He
pastored at St. Joseph, Port Lavaca; Mt. Olive, Austwell;
West Tabernacle, Corpus Christi, and First St. Emmanuel
at Freeport, Texas.
In 1947, he became pastor of the Mount Salem Baptist
Church where he served faithfully and untiringly for
thirty-five years; from 1947 - 1982.
Rev. Randon was united in Holy Matrimony to Mildred
Giles in 1952. To this union no children were born.
Rev. Randon served as the first President of the
American Baptist Western District Sunday School Con-
gress and served this office for twenty-two years. He
served twenty-seven years as Secretary of the American
Baptist Western District Assn. He was principal at the
Freeport High School for nineteen years. He taught
Bible Analyses at the Conroe College for several years.
He also served as Dean of the Conroe Extension School
for a number of years (Victoria Area). He served as
the first President of the Ministerial Fellowship Assn.
of Victoria and adjacent counties. At the time of his
death, he was Chairman of the Board of the Conroe
College, Statistian of the American Baptist Convention
of Texas and Secretary Emeritus of the American Baptist
Western District Assn. He was also a member of Pro-
gressive Order of Pilgrims.
He is survived by a loving and devoted wife, Mrs.
Mildred Randon; one foster son, Homer Randon; one
brother, Rev. E. M. Randon, Jr. of Fresno, Calif.;
seven nephews, four nieces and a host of relatives
and friends.
