Highland boys
clinch a playoff
spot with victory
Highland's boys basketball team clinched a playoff
berth on Tuesday with a 62-31 road win over Trent.
Nick Richburg scored 24 points, Cameron Cox 15 and
Jordan Basye 14 for the Hornets, who are now 5-2 in
District 14-A, Division II (9-3 overall) and have a three-
game lead over fourth-place Trent — which Highland
has already defeated twice — with three games left.
After an even first quarter that ended with the teams
tied at 14-14, Highland took control with a 38-9 run in
the next two periods to lead 52-23 at the end of three
quarters and held Trent to just 17 points in the last three
periods. "We finished with a good defensive effort," said
coach Brooks Boynton, whose team plays at second-
place Roby (6-1) on Friday.
