Local teen to take missionary trip to Italy
Raynee Fisher
Local teen, Raynee Fisher, is scheduled to go on a
missionary trip to Italy this summer. The trip is hosted
by Global Expeditions, Teen Mania. She is very excited
about spreading the Gospel of Jesus across the seas,
"This is an opportunity of a lifetime. I get to travel and
bring souls to Christ. This is
something most kids only
dream of," Raynee said.
There was a benefit buf-
fet at Pizza Hut to help fund
this trip.
"I want to thank Pizza Hut
and all the people who were
involved in this — friends,
family and patrons," she
said.
There is also a pancake
supper scheduled on Feb.
19, starting at 6 p.m. $5 for
adults and $3 for children,
eight years old and under.
This event is sponsored by The Word of God Church and
will take place at the Word of God Church.
"I need all the donations I can get because this trip is to
be totally funded by donations and fund raising® Raynee
said. "I'm asking anyone who is able and if God puts it on
your heart to donate to please send them to 1519 Runnels
here in Sweetwater. If everyone God touches would send
$1 it would take no time to get it done."
She wants to thank God and everyone else involved
ahead of time. She knows that He will provide and He
will use His people as the vessels to do it.
Faith is all I need to prove His hand in this. Please pray
for me in this matter, even if you can't afford to donate.
Prayer is more powerful than money anyway.
"Don't get me wrong, I need the monetary donations
too, but prayer is the key to getting them," Raynee said.
She wants to express her love and gratitude to her
church, Word of God, her friends, family and the people
of Sweetwater and above all her Lord, Jesus Christ.
BROADWAY BAPTIST CHURCH
Every part of our life is affected by our emotions. The
people we know, the work we do, the hobbies we enjoy,
they are all affected by how we feel. Because of this, we
must learn to control our emotions instead of our emo-
tions controlling us. I once heard a preacher say, "if you
don't control the inside you won't control the outside". In
Genesis, we read of Cain and Abel and the first mur-
der. What caused this? Cain became jealous, which led
to anger, which led to murder. All this could have been
avoided had he had control of the inside. Do you have
trouble controlling the inside? Pastor Chris, in the morn-
ing worship service, is preaching a series "Handling Your
Heart," and he will give you biblical insight into how you
can control your emotions. Come and let God do some-
thing real in your life.
If you are interested in your child being in Awana
Clubs, your child is welcome to come and meet with us
on Sunday at 6 p.m. in the Family Center. This two-hour
program allows kids to learn Bible verses, hear Bible
stories and play fun and exciting games. It is for ages two
years through fifth grade.
Missionary Cory Lyons will be with us Feb. 28, during
the morning service to present his field to the Philippines
and minister to us.
We are looking forward to a wonderful Sunday, and we
extend an open invitation to all. Come out and worship
with us at Broadway where God is changing lives one
heart at a time.

that there will be overwhelming support, materially and

THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST
OF LATTER-DAY SAINTS
Help in Haiti
The Latter-day Saint aid in Haiti will be a long-term
effort providing help that is needed to rebuild. For exam-
ple, the Church is still providing support in Indonesia
and Peru years after disasters devastated those areas. So
far, the Church has done the following for Haiti:
* Distributed more than 1 million pounds of food,
water and other necessities to thousands of people. In
total, the Church's contribution is equivalent to 25 truck-
loads, each carrying 40,000 pounds of food and other
supplies.
* Shipped more than 3,000 tents for families forced to
leave their homes.
* Provided medical doctors, medicine and wheelchairs
for the injured. The Church called on 14 doctors and
nurses and a pair of licensed social workers to participate
in humanitarian aid. A half dozen of them spoke Creole
or French.
* Opened the doors of nine meetinghouses located in
and around Port-Au-Prince to provide shelter to mem-

including Food for the Poor, International Relief and
Development, American Red Cross, Islamic Relief, CARE
and United Airlines. In addition, the Church is worldng
closely with the United Nations to coordinate relief
efforts on the ground.
* Organized priesthood leaders in Port-Au-Prince
to assess the needs and provide the direction for relief
efforts. Local leaders organized the members and mis-
sionaries to load and unload the trucks carrying the sup-
plies, to help and care for the injured, feed the people,
and clean local meetinghouses and grounds.
* Coordinated the donations of thousands of Latter-
day Saints, who made significant contributions online
and through Sunday contribution forms to help with
relief efforts.
- Purchased four additional vehicles for use in deliver-
ing supplies and moving aid workers.
* The former mission home is being renovated for use
by the local priesthood emergency response committee
and as a base for medical response.
The two main goals of the Caribbean Area Presidency
are: provide relief and to help the people continue on the
path that leads to self reliance and self worth.

them to begin their school day with a spiritual boost
besides giving them knowledge of the scriptures. Each
week one scripture is memorized. The scripture for this
week is from Ether 12:27 "And if men come unto me I
will show unto them their weakness. I give unto men
weakness that they may be humble; and my grace is suf-
ficient for all men that humble themselves before me;
for if they humble themselves before me, and have faith
in me, then will I make weak things become strong unto
them."
We have two new Elders (missionaries). They are Elder
Rackley (Ohio) and Elder Goodell (Utah). For those who
are interested in learning more about the gospel, please
