On Friday morning, two residents were doing some work cutting up scrap metal when the grass near them
caught on fire, according to Sweetwater Fire Chief Grant Madden. "They tried briefly to extinguish the fire
themselves, but were unable to stop it with the winds and dryness of the fuel. It took three Sweetwater trucks,
one Roscoe truck and their tanker, one Maryneal truck and a maintainer and track loader from Nolan County
to control the blaze. One house was threatened, but did not have any damage other than some slight damage
to the horse pens beside the barn. About 25-30 acres burned due to the fire," said Madden. Shown is Sweetwater

In October, 2010, CDC's Advisory Committee on
Immunization Practices (ACIP) voted to expand the rec-
ommendations for the use of Tdap (tetanus-diptheria-
acellular pertussis) vaccine, This action was taken in an
effort to protect more people from pertussis due to an
increased incidence of the disease in the United States
Many states, including Texas, have seen an increased
inc 1 nee of pertussis in the past decade Currently,
California is experiencing its largest outbreak in 60
years. Since January 2010, more than 6400 confirmed,
probable and suspected pertussis cases, and 10 pertus-
sis related deaths in infants have occurred in that state.
According to information from the Immunization Action
Coalition, the new recommendations are as follows:
•Tdap can be given regardless of the interval since the
last Td was given, "here is no need to wait 2-5 years to
administer Tdap following a dose of Td.
•Adolescents should receive a one-time dose of Tdap
(instead of Td) at the 11-12 year old visit.

With the release of its
sophomore disc, Of A
Captive Heart, and a tire-
less work ethic, A Road Less
Traveled is moving boldly
forward to become a legit:
mate rising star in 2011.
Lead single "Underneath" is
already gaining airplay, fol-
lowing in the footsteps of
the band's previous single,
"Save Me" from the band's
independent debut, which
landed in the top 30 at chris-
tianrock.net.
With roughly 120 shows
logged in 2009, the band
laid a strong foundation
and grew a loyal fan base to
builc upon throughout the
Midwest. A combination of
smaller headline shows, con-
ference appearances, youth
camps an< opening slots on
national tours attests not
only to the band's flexibil-
ity and diversity, bit to its
willingness to do whatever
it takes to connect with its
steadily growing audience.
As the band refines and
sharpens its dynamic live
show, the touring opportu-
nities continue to roll in. In
2009, A Road Less Traveled
joined the "Rock What You
Got Tour" with Superchick,
