Federal shutdown avoided,
2012 budget fight looms
JIM KUHNHENN
Associated Press
WASHINGTON (AP) - A last-minute
budget deal forged amid bluster and tough
bargaining averted an embarrassing federal
shutdown, cut billions in spending and pro-
vided the first major test c the divided gov-
ernment that voters ushered in five months
ago.
Working late into Friday night, congres-
sional and White House negotiators finally
agreed on a plan to pay for government oper-
ations through the end of September while
trimming $38.5 billion in spending.
Lawmakers then approved a measure to
keep the government running for a few more
days while the details of the new spending
plan are written into legislation.
Actual approval of the deal is expected in
the middle of next week.

Concern about the cost
of a healthy diet being out
of reach are on the minds
of many Americans as the
nation continues to work
through serious economic
woes. However, accord-
ing to an Agriculture
Department study, the cost
of eating healthy hasn't
changed as much as some
less- ealthy alternatives.
Eating healthy food while
on a idget does require
strategic shopping.
Farm Bureau focuses on
helping Americans learn
how to stretch their gro-
cery dollars with healthy,
nutritious food. America's
farmers and ranchers are
committed to producing
safe, healthy and abun-
dant food. And they share
a common concern with
consumers when it comes
to putting nutritious meals
on the table while sticking
to a tight budget.
Farm Bureau is aimed at
helping American consum-
ers earn how to shop stra-
tegically to put nutritious
meals on the table with
fewer dollars. "Learning

Ribbon cutting held for FFB ATM
Some new technology has found its way to a local community bank. First Financial Bank n Sweetwater
has recently installed a new ATM machine at 1531 Hailey, replacing the old machine that was previously
in place. FFB President Kirby Andrews described the new device as the "newest and wisest" ATM. The
current ATM boasts several new features, ncluding various deposit capab ities. It can scan checks, count
and dispense cash and print receipts. While customers can make deposits and receive cash withdrawals,
another new and great perk comes along with the new ATM. As long as deposits are made by 7 p.m., late-
working customers can have same day credit. Shown are First Financial Bank employees and officers along
with Sweetwater Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors at a ribbon cutting ceremony held for the new ATM
machine on Friday, April 8, 2011.
