We are trying to enjoy our-
selves the best we can, down this
way these hot days, by going to
meeting, eating watermelons and
fried chicken, but nevertheless
we are brought to the knowledge
of the fact that—man must earn
his living by the sweat of his
brow; as one cannot exist these
days without sweating some.
Everybody would certainly en-
joy a good rain as it is getting
very dry and dusty.
Several from this place have
been attending the revival meet-
ing at Belle Plains during the
past week, there has been a great
interest manifested in the meet-
ing and there are conversions at
almost every service.
David Wilson had the misfor-
tune of getting one his feet
badly hurt the other day.
Larkin Strange is on the
list this week, we hope he
be able to be around.
Oil, my! how we do miss
warm sympathetic hand-s
of the candidates. But they

be with us again in two more
years.
M vs. Walter Dickenson is visit-
ing her sister near Corn Hill this
week.
Mr. Wilson of Alabama came
in one day last week to visit
friends and relatives near this
place, lie is a, brother to Mr.
Sam Wilson and Mrs. J.M. Huey.
Dr. W. T. Dandolph of Little
River was in our town Saturday.
We are sorry that little Nina
Dickenson is still lingering with
an attack of fever.
Well as the election is over I
guess we can all turn our atten-
tion to our interurban proposi-
tion. We hope that we can be
lucky enough to get the line, so
that we could have our next big
Democrat picnic at this place,
and run our excursion car right
out here on the Salou—wouldn't
that be nice.
Say! girls now is your time as
Mr. William Bradford rolled him
out a new rubber tire Monday.
Miss Martha Owens was in our
midst Monday looking afterthose
coupons. That's right, Martha,
they are worth looking after.

tinues to be good.
Warner Wallace, wife and
mother-in-law, Mrs. Horton were
in town Wednesday.
Pinly Freeman and wife spent
the night with his mother Tues-
day night.
Little Ltola Maples spent a few
days with her grandmother last
week.
Miss Vera Freeman spent a
few days witn her brother, Finly
Freeman last week.
Mrs. Housewright visited Mrs.
Lula Myricks Wednesday.
John Pricer had business in
town Wednesday.
R. A. Maples went to the pic-
nic at Reed's Lake last Wednes-
day.
Mrs. Smith from Temple was
with her daughter, Mrs. Myrtle
Maples last week canning fruit.
The preserving of fruit seems
to be the order of the day at this
place.
Mrs. R. A. Maples and daugh-
ter were in town a while Wednes
day.
Willie Ferguson has built an
addition to his home which im-
proves the looks of the place very
much.
The meeting at Little River is
being well attended and has had
several conversions.
There will be a protacted meet-
ing at this place beginning J uly
24th. Everybody invited.
Grandma Wade is still in our
community but will return home
Saturday. We certainly would
be glad if Grandma could stay
with us longer.
Mrs. Lela McHood called to
see her sister-in-law, Mrs. Delia
Foster Friday.
J im Maples and wife spent the
day with his mother Friday.
Mrs. R. A. Maples has been al-
most past going on account of
something like a crick in her
back.
Grandma Carter is going to
leave in a short time for south
Texas where she will visit her
brother.
Mrs. Madie Freeman wishes
the votes from all of her friends
sent in. She will appreciate
them very much.
We are having some hot dry
weather but think that every-
body would enjoy a good rain.

don't look like it ever will rain

Mrs. Lorena Moore's sister,

day eve on the way home from
the election at Holland.
It seems like we are all having
bad luck out here. Chickens
nearly all have the sorehead and
itjs camp meeting time.
We think the farmers here at
this place will all have to run for
some office for the insects are
sure at work on the cotton here
at present.

Health of our community is
very good at present so far as we
know.
We are glad to report Mr. Jain
Edwards' boby getting along
nicely at this writing.
George Wilson of Alabama is
visiting relatives in our communi-
ty. He speaks well of Texas.
Gus Moore and wife returned
from Haskell county last week.
He seems to like the West fine.
W. A. Baker and family have
been attending the Bantist re-
vival at Salado this week.
George Hayes and wife of Has-
kell county is visiting Mr. Geo.
Forrest and family this week.
John and Tom Alien and Lyje
Smith are running a hajr baler
and anyone wanting work of that
kind done call 011 them.
Mrs. May Smith of near Hol-
land has been spending the week

The health of this community
is tine as far as the writer knows.
The cotton in and around this
place needs rain badly.
The June corn in this vicinity
needs rain also and it it don't
get rain pretty soon the crop will
be light.
Miss Sadie Curry of Salado
visited the Poteet girls Sunday.
The big meeting at Bell Plains
came a a close Monday night the
27th. There were several con-
versions during the meeting.
Miss Vera Griffin was the
guest of Miss Maud Liles Sun-
day.

Tom Hatchcock said he didn't

his old hat.

The Baptist meeting will begin
here Friday night before the sec

Tennessee Valley.
Quite a number of us were sur-
prised last week by receiving in-
vitations to attend the wedding
of B. F. Edens and Miss Bessie
E. Mulholland at Berea. Mr.
Edens is a young and prosperous
farmer of Taylors Valley while
the bride is the daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. J. E. Mulholland for-
merly of this place. We wish
the young couple a long and
happy sail over the matrimonial
sea. Mr. and Mrs. Eden will
make their home in Taylors Val-
ley. The wedding took place at the
home of the bride's parents on
Sunday evening at 5 o'clock, Rev.
Hays officiating. Mr. Edens was
handsomely dressed in a suit of
gray while the bride was daintily
attired in white silk.

Charlie Smith Doing Well.
Will Stockton received a letter
from C. B. Smith yesterday in
which was stated that he was im-
proving very rapidly and that he
expected to return home about
the middle of August. This will'
be very gratifying news to hia
many friends.
Dr. J. M. Frazier who has been
with Charlie Smith at the sanitar-
ium in Minnesota returned home
Tuesday, and says that Mr. Smith
is doing well
