The Terrell Transcript in every issue publishes an arti-
cle or two from the pen of some prominent citizen under
the heading, "What Terrell Needs." Dr. ~f. P. Davis, for-
merly of Canton, contributes an excellent paper on Ter-
rell's water proposition. In his article, Dr. Davis gives a
little boost to our iriterurban project:
It is almost a certain fact that Terrell is to have an in-
tcrurban. I believe it will be a good thing for the town.
However, I believe it will be much better for the town, if
we will inaugurate a move arid get the line extended
through the great fruit and vegetable district of East Tex-
as and on ti'Canton and Tyler. The people of Canton
T-yJei- Ere* ready and-willing to do everything their
power to seture the line, and by an earnest effort on the
part of the Terrell people we can put the interurban into
Tyler.
Buried the Hatchet
Governor Colquitt and Comptroller W. P. Lane have
buried their hatchets. Colquitt buried his in Chester H.
Terrell's elongated fprm at the close of the regular session
of the legislature. Lane sunk his deep intp the throbbing
brain of the Hon. Culler? F. 1 homas. Being without
hatchets, the governor and (he comptroller have shaken
hands, declared for brotherly love and fellowship and the
restorarion of the Alamo. Politics makes strange bed-
fellows and Colquitt and Lane in one bed is a sight fo.
the immoral eods «3 well as mortal men. Why shouldn't
they be fr iends? They had a falling out over John Barley-
corn. John never pla.vfi favorites, l ie catches them com-
ing and going.—Pert Worth Record.

HE FIRST NATIONAL BANK of
Canton stands for methods which
make financial institutions of positive
value. The management of this institu-
tion recognizes that strength, above all
else, is an absolutely essential factor in
the conduct of every bank.
Furthermore, on intelligent appreciation of
the individual requirements of patrons is neces-
sary to make its service to them what it really
should be. 'Cafc;'.:^rnt!y steadfastly adher-
ing to this theoiy, The First National Bank has
enjoyed a substantial growth, both in number
of depositors and in the volume of its deposits.
We respectfully call your attention to the
figures shown in our .statement, which indicate
clearly the strong financial condition of this in-
stitution—the oldest Bank in Canton.
