easy about the cold wave as it
seemed he said, to be after that
nice field of corn he had just
plowed out.
EUREKA!
Yes, I Have Found It at Last.
Found what? Why that Chamber-
lain's Salve cures eczema and all
manner of itching of the skin. I have
been afllieted for many years with
skin disease. I had to get up three
or four times every night and wash
with cold water to .allay the terrible
itching but since using this salve in
December, 1SK)6, the terrible itching
has stopped and has not troubled me.

had been returned. The horse

Kennedy's Laxative Coufjli Syrup—
the cough syrup that task's nearly as
good as maple and which children like
so well to take. Unlike nearly all
other cough remedies, it does not con-
stipate, but on the other hand it acts
quickly yet gently on the bowels,
through which the cohl is forced from
the system, and at the same time it al-
lays inlllammation. Always use Ken-
nedy's Laxative Cough Syrup. Sold
by the Belton Druir Co.
Hooper Cook of Prairie Dell
came in last Friday morning
thoroughly chilled. He had to
come, he said, as he had sold
his farm near Prairie Dell and
had to make the transfer. We
are proud to say that by this deal
the county does not loose a good
citizen as Mr. Cook bought
another place in the same neigh-
borhood.
One day last week Capt. Prater
came by the Democrat oifice and
handed the office boy a fine
bunch of radishes for the editor,
but as the editor was at dinner
and the boy not having had any
radishes this season could not
stand the temptation, so after a
scramble with the advertising
man in the office the boy suc-
ceeded in capturing the greens.
L. S. Deaver of near Belton
was in the city Saturday and in
speaking of products of the farm
he said he sold over seven hun-
dred dollars worth of hogs last
year and from this sale he has
been able to tide himself over the
panic, besides lending his neigh-
bor two hundred dollars, and was
able to hold twelve bales of cot-
ton which he still has on hand.
A Fine Catch.
' Jesse Harris, who lives on the
prairie east of the Leon, last
week passed through the city on
his way home from the Lam-
pasas river where he had fished
one night. He stated that his
catch was fine and produced the
fish to corroborate the statement.
He and his party caught about
thirty pounds.
Looked Prosperous.
On last Saturday Willie Fer-
guson, one of Three Forks pros-
perous farmers, drove into the
city, loaded with eight head of
fine porkers which worked the
scales at a net weight of 2240 lbs.
This weight figured at 3 1-4 cents
per pound would be nearly equal
to the amount of two five hun-
dred bales of cotton at much less
cost of production. This should
be a pointer to the general farmer.
A Woman Tells How to Relieve Rheu-
matic Pains.
I have been a very great sufferer
from the dreadful disease, rheumatism,
for a number of years, I have tried
many medicines but never got much
relief from any of them until two
years agoj when I bought a bottle of
Chamberlain's Pain Balm. 1 found
relief before I had used all of one
bottle, but kept on applying it and
soon felt like a different woman.
Through my advice many of my
friends have tried it and can tell you
how wonderfully it has worked.—Mrs.
Sarah A. Cole, 140 S.NewSt., Dover,
Del. Chamberlain's Pain Balm is a
liniment. The relief from pain which
it affords is alone worth many times
its cost. It makes rest and sleep
possible. For sale by all druggists.

Crops Fine.
Uncle Swan Bigham of the
city has recently made a trip to
his son's farm in Keys Valley,
also to Tennessee Valley, and re-
ports the wheat and corn in the
valleys looking fine. He says
the corn has three and four
blades on it and all plowed out
and in growing condition. He
especially referred to a twelve
acre patch of wheat hif son Newt
has in Keys Valley which he
says if no disaster strikes, it will
make twentyfive bushels per
acre. Mr. Bigham is very proud
of this field of wheat, as he
helped his son plant it.

The Country Lad.
Have you noticed that the fellow
Who is talked of most today
Was a barefoot in the country
Tramping down the daisied way}1
Have you thought to count the leaders
Who have warmed their frosty feet
Where the brtndle cow had rested
Ere she yielded up her teat?
Have you noticed that the great ones
Know and love the things of God,
And have kept their senses fragrant
With the perfumes of the soar
Have you ever paused to figure
Where the country boy wins out?
It's because he learned to hustle
In the days of sauerkrautl
It's because he's broad and honest,
Has a heart that's turned to toil,
Inspiration born and nurtured ,
With the turning of the soil J'
He has learned the golden lesson
That a man who wins rnuvt try
With an earnestness of piy'pose
And a frank look in tvj eye.
So the country boy is/eading—
Strong of frame a«9 pure of heart—
Winning laurels ir,?the struggle,
Gaining honory in the mart.
You can tind hV, in the sanctum,
In the court- jom, at the mill!

And the r.-otto is "I WILL!"

Pert Paragraphs.
Theories are much more en-
ticing than facts because they
leave so much to the imagination.
Some bachelors are romantic,

A well dressed man is always
a credit, to his wife and to his

It is an extremely clever home-

It is often very hard work to

A stupid woman to be charm-

clever.
There is only one reason why
the women are more talkative
than the men, and that is because
the women won't give the men a
