Come to Texas to thrive.—Pales-
tine Advocate.
Our young volunteers should
not allow their joy over being
mustered out to run away with
their common senoa and discre-
tion. That was rather a seridus
episode of those returning Texans
from Jacksonville on the Cotton
Belt Wednesday. Holding up a
passenger fcrew oil a train carry-
ing Unclc Sam's mails it no
child's play, and the young ex-
soldiers are liable to here some-
thing drop becauso of their
escapade. Volunteers should
remember that their uniforms
carry with them grave respon-
sibilities and the reputation of
the army of the government.
They should never do a thing to
sully that uniform.. If they
1 toust be after devilment, at 'east
respect the uniform enough to
take it off before such yielding
to the allurements of his satanic
majesty. That uniform makes
men of boys, and boyish pranks
are not easily forgivon in any
one wearing it. Boys, rospeot
the uniform, if tfou do not your
own reputations.—Austin States-
man.
