Albert E. STELZER
CELINA YOUTH DIES FROM NATURAL CAUSES IN FRANCE
Albert Stelzer Makes Supreme Sacrifice
Death Occurred Aug. 5
Mrs. E. L. Francis, who lives in the Rhea Mills community, was in McKinney. She states that her
sister, Mrs. Will Levy, of Celina, had recently received a letter telling her of the death of her son, Albert
Stelzer, in France. The young man's death occurred August 5th, and was due to Bright's disease. He had
been dead a month when the letter came. It stated that he was confined to the hospital several weeks
before the final summons. Young Stelzer had been in the army in France for several months.
As far as is known young Stelzer is the first young man from Collin county to die in France,
either by disease or in action.

DEATH OF ALBERT STELZER REPORTED IN CASUALTY LIST
Celina Soldier Died For (sic) Natural Causes in France
First to Die Abroad
The death of Albert Stelzer, from natural causes, was reported in Tuesday's American casualty
list of the expeditionary forces abroad.
It will be remembered that young Stelzer was reported in this paper some time ago as having
died on Aug. 5. This was based on information received from a friend and comrade of the young man
who had written to Mrs. Will Levy of Celina, sister of Stelzer.
The matter was taken up with the war department but no confirmation of Stelzer's death was
obtained from that source. But the appearance of his name in Tuesday's casualty list, definitely
confirms his death.
Stelzer had been in the service some time. His home was at Celina. He is the first Collin county
boy in the American army in France to die abroad, so far as reported.McKinney Daily Courier Gazette, 2 October 1918, page 1, col. 6.
