Deaths
David Lane Larson, 49, died November 23,
2003 in Milwaukee, Wise., after more than a
decade of living with HIV and AIDS.
He was born in Big Spring, Texas, on March
6,1954.
Larson earned a double Master's Degree from
Southern Methodist University in Dance and
Theatre and went on to perfonn in "Hello, Dolly"
with Carol Charming on Broadway.
He directed, choreographed and perfoimed in
many local theatres including Theatre Three,
Denton Community, Denton Light Opera, Lyric
Stage, Garland Civic, Crossroads Theatre and
The Turtle Creek Chorale.
Larson was "immortalized" for his work on
Broadway in New York City on a landmark
mural made of etched stainless steel in the
Shubert Alley extension.
He is survived by his life partner, Ed Burgess
of Milwaukee, his mother, Maq'orie Larson of
Denton, his brother, Brad Larson of Memphis,
Tenn., his sister, Signe Brookings of Heber
Springs, Ark., and longtime friend Michael
Serrecchia of Dallas.
A Celebration of David's Life was held on
March 6, which would have been his 50th birth-
day.
David Carl Ward, 41, a well-known Dallas
hairdresser and salon owner, died unexpectedly
on Feb. 26 at his home.
He was the owner/stylist of Eclipse Hair Salon
on Herschel Avenue in Dallas for 15 years. He
was a 14-year member of the Dallas chapter of
AA.
Ward was an avid water skier and scuba diver.
Ward loved to travel and had visited many of
the countries in Europe, South America and
Australia. He followed his lifelong passion of
working hard and playing hard. He lived every
day to the fullest, with a quick wit and laughter to
brighten everyone's day.
Ward was exceptionally blessed to enjoy the
love and support of a large, close family, includ-
ing his mother, grandmother, brother, two sisters
and nieces and nephews. He often hosted family
gatherings and holidays at his home, which he
had proudly remodeled and landscaped . His dad
preceded him in death on Aug. 26, 2002.
To everyone who has inquired about the future
welfare of his beloved dog, Gizmo, he will have
a good home with his "Granny."
His family and the staff at Eclipse regret if
anyone was not notified prior to his funeral on
