The membership of Stonewall
Democrats on Tuesday night voted
unanimously to support a recommen-

rescind its endorsement of Malin.
The Dallas Morning News editorial
board also rescinded its endorsement.
But Dallas Tejano Democrats let its
endorsement stand.

Tom Malin, a Democratic primary
candidate for a seat in the Texas
House, said on Tuesday that he will
remain in the race, despite calls by gay
Democratic leaders for him to with-
draw.
Malin admitted last week that he
once worked as a male escort.
Malin said he has gotten "tons of
calls and e-mails" from supporters
encouraging him to continue bis cam-

Study links homosexuality
in men to the way mothers
process X chromosomes
From Staff Reports
Hew research suggests that moth-
ers of multiple gay sons process X
chromosomes differently than other
women.
The study by a research team at
the University of California at Los

about a quarter of the mothers who
had more than one gay son
processed X chromosomes in their
bodies in the same way.
Ordinarily, women process the
chromosomes randomly in one of
two ways: half go one way, half go
the other.
"This confirms that there is a
strong genetic basis for sexual ori-
entation, and that for some gay men,

Tom Malin says he has gotten "tons of calls
and e-mails" from supporters encouraging
him to stay in the race.
Jack Borden, Malin's opponent in the primary,
said he had nothing to do with leaking infor-
mation on Malin's past.
Shannon Bailey says the tipster who leaked
information on Tom Malin's past to the press
also damaged the Democratic Party.

her company donated 1,000 condoms to three North Texas AIDS service organizations.
Graves, an Oak Lawn insurance agent, coordinated the donation. STORY, PAGE 13.
