Hew research suggests that moth-
ers of multiple gay sons process X
chromosomes differently than other
women.
The study by a research team at
the University of California at Los
Angeles adds another bit of evi-
dence that sexual orientation is at
least in part due to genetics.
The research group found that
about a quarter of the mothers who
had more than one gay son
processed X chromosomes in their
bodies in the same way.
Ordinarily, women process the
chromosomes randomly in one of
two ways: half go one way, half go
the other.

strong genetic basis for sexual ori-

brate its first official Mardi Gras cele-
bration on Tuesday with a benefit for
those displaced by Hurricane Katrina.
Mayor Laura Miller has proclaimed
Tuesday "Mardi Gras Day in Dallas,"
and the 150-year-old celebration's pur-
ple, green and gold colors will be on
display during "Carnivale 1"; in Oak
Lawn's gay entertainment district on
Cedar Springs Road.
The North Texas GLBT Chamber
of Commerce's Katrina Relief Fund
will receive money raised at the event.
It will be distributed to the New
Orleans AIDS Task Force and the
town of Ocean Springs, Miss.
