they called it Amarillo. That was a pecular name to us cow boys, we most of the time called it Armadila ha ha. Well we drove on around Amarillo. Those had only bin one herd of cattle a head of us starting this new Western cow trial. Well we drove on and didnt find any more water for 2 Days & nites for the cattle, they were getting fearfully dry & our Barrell of drinking water was almost gone too. Well one morning the cattle hoisted their heads and off they went off to the rite. They had smelled the water. Well we could not hold them we Just rode in a head of them adn keeped them checked back all we could. The water it was a spring branch running in to the Canadian River. There being good range and water there we grazed there for 2 Days. Then drove on our way. There had only bin one herd of cattle drove through on this trail. There was no trail to see when that herd would be grazing
