TEXAS NAVY FLAG
At the outset of the Texas War of Independence,
Texan naval ships flew the flag designed to commemorate
the Texan Constitution of 1824. Its coloring was so similar
to that of the national flag of Mexico that a new and
distinctive flag was made for the Texas Navy in 1836.
It carried stripes in an arrangement identical to the U.S.
flag, with a single large white star on a field of blue.
