War Very Likely
German Taking Census Of
Available Men In The
United States
All
Fort Worth, Texas. —Whether
th^mrf^or not Germany is preparing for
war with England or some other
country, or whether she is meref-
ly getting herself in a position to
know the number of soldiers
that could be mustered in case of
an emergency,- she is serving
notice on all of her available ci-
tizens in the United States to be
examined to ascertain whether
or, not they are still fit for mili-
tary service.
In view of the fact an order
like this has never been issued
by either Germany or any other
country and considering too the
apparently j strained relations
now existing between the
countries, the affair assumes sig-
niftci^nce.
There are at least one hun-
dred Germans in Fort Worth
who failed to serve their full
term out in the army and all of
these have been called on to sub-
mit to the examination. When-
ever they stand a satisfactory
examination at the German offi-
ces here they are asked innum-
erable questions and their ans-
wers jotted down in a conscrip-
tion book- The addresses of" all
Germans in this city is carefully
kept by the German agent here.
It has also been found out
that several unnaturalized Ger-
man inhabitants of this city have
been called on, examined, and
asked to come to Galveston
where they are furnished with
transportation papers which will
take them to the fatherland.
Following the findings hen* re-
ports were received from many
other cities stating that practi-
cally the same thing * heing
done in all of them. Nothing
authentic can be obcained on the
matter as all those examined
are kept jn ignorance of why
they are wanted.
ENGLISH INCLUDED
Futher investigation here to-
day developed the fact that sev-
the British Naval reserves have
been ordered to report to the
English counsul at Galveston
and that they have gone there.
It is not know whether or not
any of the English have been
transported yet.

he will make his next Christmas
pocket change by buying real-

dozen lots in Emma, and has
this week bought out Mr. Wor-

offered a bonus of fifty dollars on
a lot on the square at that place
which he had just purchased ten
