,'was midnight on the ooean
Not a street oar was in sight
The lights were brightly shining
And it rained all day that night.
'Twas a summer day in August,
And the snow was raining fast,
Wben a barefoot boy with shoes on
Stood,sitting on the grass.
,Twas evening and the setting sun
was rising in the west,
While the little fishes in the trees
Lay huddled in their nest.
While the rain was pouring down
The sun was ehining bright.
The organ peeled potatoes, lard
Was rendered by the ohoir;
As the sexton rang the dishrag
,Someone set the churbh on fire.
"Hol) Smoke" the minister oried,
And in the row lost his hair;
Then his head resembled heaven
For there was no parting there.
