The trip from Eliasville with kir.Grantham required
5 hours-less than 10 miles per. First we ran over a s
stump and blew out a tire(near Dan Eaker's),then boggel
up,then five miles east of Woodson another blow-out,
and no tire to take the Dlace of the one we took off,
so we ran in to W.on the rim. We were there an hour
before finding a tire
just think of a west-Texas
town not having a TO]RD tire. We finally got one from
a banker which we had to take from his car and had beer
used some.
Arrived in time for the entertainment practice that
night(Thurs)and the real thing was a suceess the next
night beyond our expectations. Friday afternoon I
hastilyy got together an orchestra and Dracticed it
about two hours and sprung that surprise on the people
by playing some real good music while the crowd was
gathering and getting settled. That makes the orchestra
a certainty.
It rained so hard Saturday that it was impossible
for me to 'o tc Ft.Griffin Sunday as I planned, so
I Reached here at ll(12bv new time);the Methodists
had a small crowd and came down with us for the morning
hour, and we went up to their church for the night
service.
It is still foggy and wet. I suorose there is no
danger of yorn millet and corn being caught under the
'crust with all this dampness, ana Thope it will be warm
weather now so it can grow.
