OBITUARY
Rev. Johney Hampton, Jr. was born in Moreauvilie,
Louisiana, August 23,1930 He was the third child
given to the late Mr. Johrvey Hampton, Sr. and Mrs.
Virginia Hampton. He received his education in
Louisiana and in 1952, joined the U.S. Army. He was
married to Mrs. Joyce Ada',:s Hampton, who
preceded him in death. T j this union. God blessed
them with three daughters. He . "?..s discharged from
U. S. Armed Services in Sa.i r~ jo, 1956.
Rev. Hampton was united m holy matrn .ony to
Mrs. Annie Laura on June 8, 1979, Rev, jchney
Hampton, Jr. accepted Christ at an early ; ge and
acknowledged his "call" to the ministry under the
late Dr. S. E. Steward, at Shiloh Baptist Church
where he served as a deacon before acknowledging
his "call."
In 1960j God layed upon Rev. Hampton's heart to
organize Greater Galilee Baptist Church, i .ed in
the Kenwood area. For 27 years. Rev. H-■ n was
a faithful and a hard worker; eaJ ng the fic ;k that
God made him overseer.
On May 28, 1987, around midday, God saw L'-t to
call H:s servant home. He ea "-s to mourn a devoted
wife, Mrs. Annie Hampton; three daughters, Mrs.
Cynthia Ball, Mrs. Janice Price and Myra Hampton
all of San Antonio, Texas,, cwo sonv-in-la' vir. Sam
Ball, Jr. and Mr. Kenrus Price, 111; five grandchildren.
Candace Williams, Tyra Randall. Kenrus Price, IV,
Joyce Ball and Pershania Henry all of San Antonio'
Texas; a loving mother, Mrs. Virginia Hampton of
MoreauviHe, La.; two sisters, Mrs. Morine Du'oas and
Mrs. Cinderella Blackman; three brothers, Rev. Sam
Hampton, New Orleans, La., Ledell Hampton,
Moreauvilie, La. and Mr Landry Hampton, Los
Angeles, Calif. Rev. Hampton also leaves a large
number of other relatives and friends from all
across the United States.
