Obituary
Albert "Peaches" Thompson, Jr. was born in San Antonio, Texas on
April 13, 1946, to Albert Thompson, Sr. and Leola Williams
Thompson. He was preceded in death by his father.
On October 16, 1971, he married Valorie Irene McGowan. To this
union a daughter, Anitra Denise, was born. Peaches was also the
loving father of two sons, John Todd and Shawn Christopher.
From early in life, Peaches united withAntioch Baptist Church where
he remained a faithful member until his death.
After graduation from Highlands High School in 1964, Peaches
attended Texas Southern University on a football scholarship. He
completed his undergraduate education at Southwest Texas State
University.
After 36years with the United States Postal Service, Peaches retired
on November 1, 2001. It was a joy for Peaches to work at the Post
Office because of the many friendships formed with his peers and the
general public. During his tenure, he was committed to his involvement
with the Alamo Diversity Action Committee.
He was an exceptionally devoted and committed member of Alpha
Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., Delta Rho Lambda Chapter, in which
he mentored to young men. His loyalty extended without boundaries
to the Courtiers Social Club and the Amigos deAmigos Social Club.
He held numerous offices within each of these organizations.
His memories will be cherished by his Wife of 30 years, Valorie;
Daughter, Anitra Denise; Sons, John Todd and Shawn Christopher;
Mother, Leola Thompson; Grandchildren, Cedric, Shawn
Christopher, Alonzo Joshua; Great-Aunt, Tina Sheeley; Aunts, Eddie
Mae (Alex) Hughes, all of San Antonio, TX and Doris (Robert)
Shears of Henderson, NV; "Sister", Scheiye Ann Kennedy of San
Antonio, TX; In-Laws, Clarence Roy and Gloria McGowan of San
Antonio, TX, and a multitude of cousins and friends.
