sell a better and more
current selection of records
and tapes at lower prices.
"Our primary objective"
Mr. Scott said "is to make
sure we have the top tunes
the best sellers anywhere
in the world when they are
hot.
"Under the new plan
AAFES will assume the role
of ordering the newest
records on a weekly basis
and shipping to exchanges
each week. The huge volume
of records and tapes that
AAFES buys and sells each
year will enable us to enjoy
savings in procurement costs
that can be passed along to
the customer."
The program allows in
dividual AAFES outlets to
order/ their selections weekly
from lists of best sellers and
new records compiled by the
Exchange Service on a
regional basis. Based on the
latest recording industry in
formation the lists are up
dated every two weeks in
three categories: best sellers

Scott said.
AAFES is optimistic that
the record distribution
program coupled with the
worldwide record and tape
special order program will
answer most of the criticism
frequently directed by
customers to the exchange
record and tape selections.
"In most places where this
new program already is in ef
fect record sales have in
creased by an average of 40
per cent" Mr. Scott said.
"Increased sales mean in
creased service exchange
customers are finding more
of what they want to buy.
Giving our customers more
of what they want when they
want it is our whole objec
tive."
