FHA Social Events and Projects
With the overall goal: To strengthen bonds
within the family and community, Future
Homemakers stressed "Decisions that Count"
and "Homemaking - Our Future" this year
in chapter programs, conducted during class
sessions, with combined classes, utilized out-
standing speakers, panels, films, and demon-
strations.
Social events of the year included Daddy
Date Night, Beau Box Supper, Mother-
Daughter Banquet and an 1890 County Fair.
Stamped, unused Christmas cards were sent
to Rusk State Hospital, valentines were sent to
Viet Nam and cancelled stamps and dis-
carded eye glasses were collected by mem-
bers for projects conducted.
The chapter was led by Bonnie Sonnier, presi-
dent; Karen Ferguson, Vicki Bryan, Peggy
Vincent, Kathy Deslatte, Kathy Davis, Vice-
presidents; Carolyn Heath, secretary; Paula
Scoggins, treasurer; Virginia Adame, par-
liamentarian; Judith Travis, historian. The of-
ficers, demonstrating their sewing skills,
made the bright red and white uniforms that
they wore on each meeting day.-
