Sacrifices for the Poor of the
World were taken by the fain -
ilies of Sacred Heart Parish,
Rockne. to the altar In proces
sion, taster Saturday evening,
and Faster morning
At the beginning oftheLenton
Season Father A1 Palermo, pas-
tor, urged all families of the
parish to participate in the
project "Sacrifice Food for the
World."
He urged each family, and
each individual family member
to make an offering, by fasting,
or substituting foods during the
Lenten season, and giving this
savings as a sacrifice for the
starving of the world
Each family was given a label
to attach to a can, in which the
savings could be stored. It also
served as a reminder of the
project.

San Antonio was baptized in the
Catholic Church, Faster Satur-
day evening, during the Easter
Vigil Services
The ceremony was performed
by Father Alois Goertz, cousin
of Mr Goertz, in the Holy
Spirit Church, San Antonio Mr.
and Mrs. Goertz are parishion-
ers of the Holy Spirit Parish
God parents were Mr and
Mrs Richard GoertzofKermit,
parents of Richard Allan.
Mr. and Mrs. Goertz and their
nine month old daughter, Jac-
queline, live at 16240 San Pedro
#61, in San Antonio. Mr. Goertz
is a research analyst for USAA
in San Antonio.
He is the grandson of Mrs
Sadie Goertz of Rockne
Mrs Mary Bartsch, oldest
member of Sacred Heart
Parish, Rockne, celebrated
her 90th birthday, March 16, at
the Cartwheel Lodge Nursing
Home in Lockhart.

lavender flowers decorated the
birthday cake, baked and decor
ated by her great niece, Mrs
B. L. Wend land of Rockne
"Happy Birthday, Aunt Mary
was inscribed on the cake top
Mrs. Ed Wilhelm of Rockne

casion, and Mrs Leo Beck and
Katie Wendland also of Rockne
provided punch

Eight youngsters from Sacred
Heart Parish, Rockne made
their First Holy Comnunion,
Easter Sunday morning, at the
10 a.m. Mass offered by Father
A! Palermo in Sacred Heart
Church, Rockne
Parents of the First Com-
municants accompanied the
children in procession to and
from Mass, and to the reception
of the Sacrement, and were
seated with the children during
the service.

Monday evening, March 24, at

pital, from the results of a
stroke She had been in ill
health for the past month

Mrs Meuth, the daughterof
the late Mr and Mrs Peteand
Catherine Matjeka, was born
in Bastrop County, July 29,
1885 She and Peter Meuth
were married in the St Mary's
Catholic Church, String
Prairie, November 21.1904, by
the lute Father Mouser Mr
and Mrs Meuth lived the fir st
years of their mar ried life ill
the String Prairie Community,
approximately forty eight
years ago

convert to the Catholic Faith at
the age of fourteen She was a
member of Sacred Heart
