A Special Message Sponsored By The NFL:
Get Your Unit Moving: Play For 60 Minutes For A Chance To Win
Motivate Scouts To Stay Healthy & Fit
Looking for ways your Scouts can burn off energy before your next meeting? How about some fun ideas to
get them moving on a camp out? Try any of these NFL PLAY 60 activities or invent your own, and you may
receive limited-edition patches for your unit and possibly an official NFL youth football!
► FEEL THE BEAT
Props: A Football and Some Music
Have Scouts partner up and sit cross-
legged on the floor, facing each other,
about 2 feet away. Place a football
between them. Turn on some music
and have Scouts perform the following
actions to the beat of the music:
• Tap knees
• Tap shoulders
• Clap
• Tap knees, tap shoulders, clap
• Clap partners hands (right-right, left-left)
When the music stops, Scouts try to be
the first to grab the football. Repeat 5X.
► TRAIN LIKE A PRO
Props: Energy and a Little Imagination
Space your Scouts evenly throughout your meeting room or even your campsite. Randomly shout out the different activi-
ties listed below, having them use their imagination to emulate each one for about 10-15 seconds. After you finish with the
list, give the Scouts a chance to share their favorite activities.
• Kick a field goal • Serve a tennis ball • Downhill ski • Run through tires • Hike a steep mountain
► FOLLEYBALL
Props: Football and a Low Hanging Tree Branch
Divide your unit into an even number of Scouts on each side of a tree branch. Play a game of regular volleyball following the
same rules but instead of hitting the ball you throw it & the other team catches it. Also, instead of using a volleyball, use a
football! If one team lets the football drop in bounds, one point is awarded to the other team. Play each game to 21. Play
a set of the best of 3 games to determine a winner.
► 1000 PATCHES + 20 FOOTBALLS
On your honor, submit the names of Scouts in your unit who log
at least 60 minutes of activity for at least four days in one week.
Scouting magazine, in conjunction with the NFL, will award patch-
es to the first 1,000 names submitted who got up and got mov-
ing! Plus the first 20 leaders to respond will receive an official NFL
youth football!
To be eligible, please submit the names of your Scouts who par-
ticipated along with a photo or a description of their activities and
your address to scoutingmagazine@netbsa.org. Be sure to in-
clude the words NFL Play 60 Patch in the subject line.
