The Style Show
Under the capable management of Miss Hart and Miss Wallace, the
Style Show for the benefit of the Annual was a great success. With the
stores co-cperating by supplying the most stylish costumes, and with our
pretty girls and handsome boys as models the program was varied and
pleasing indeed.
Beginning with the breakfast hcur and extending through all hours
of the day, with appropriate styles for every occasion from the most beau-
tiful evening dress to all kinds of sporting apparel.
Between acts the audience was favored by a pianologue by Mr. Cart-
wright and the beautiful singing of Miss Fay Hubbard. "That Old Sweet-
heart of Mine," as a dream of a man dreaming of his old sweethearts, was
u one of the most beautiful scenes of the evening.
TAX PARADE
Mineral Wel!s has the reputation of having one of the best schools in
lhe State. Therefcre it is not surprising to find that people have come
from other cities with the single purpose of educating their children in a
first class school, so that they shall have a firm foundation for college
work.
As a result of this the schools faced an over crowded condition this
year and an unusually large number of teachers had to be employed. This
caused a shortage of funds and it was plain that the citizens would have
to vote more money by raising the taxes or the school term would have to
be shortened.
To avoid this deplorable condition the schools decided to stage a
parade and a prize was offered to the school that could best show our need
of a nine months school.
Barbar School won the prize, and needless to say, our citizens voted
to raise the taxes.
