APPRECIATION
Few men, if any, have enjoyed the esteem and love of the Mineral
Wells High School Athletes of 1921-1922 that Mayor Lycurgus Smith
possessed. As a member of the School Board he contributed very largely
to the success of our teams. But the originality of his humor and the
warmth of his love for all those with whom he came in contact, contributed
even more largely to the comfort and happiness of the athletes and coaches.
Since football season of 1921 he has been the foremost of our athletic
supporters.
He is as unassuming as he is forcible; as brief as he is decisive; and
too clear-headed to be unjust.
We know, Mr. Smith, it has been you who have pulled us out of all
our difficulties during the year and we lovingly contribute this small space
as a token of appreciation.
